Last night saw the running of the 34th annual Zonta Canterbury School Sports awards held at the Hornby Club.
Former Olympic swimmer Anna Simcic was the guest speaker for the night and she relived the highs and lows of high-performance competition to the captive student audience.
SBHS had nominations in category’s five, six and seven (most outstanding team, all-rounder and innovative physical activity programme.
Lewis Monk was the deserving winner of category 6 all-rounder finalists for his impressive performances in Canoe Racing and Surf Life Saving and our all-conquering Basketball team beat out CBHS (National Cricket champions) and St Bede’s (National Touch champions) for Canterbury’s most outstanding team.
Both are truly massive efforts and great recognition for our Shirley athletes
