Enrolment
Students residing within the school’s zone, or who have a prior association with the school, have priority right of entry.
If there are more applicants in the priority groups than there are places available, selection will be by ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Schedule 20, Enrolment Schemes (3) of the Education and Training Act 2020.

Priority of Entry
Students residing within the school’s zone have priority right of entry. If there are still places available after the receipt of applications from students within the zone, other applications will be accepted in the following order of priority:
First Priority: The Special Programmes category is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary.
Second Priority: Siblings of current students of Shirley Boys’ High School
Third Priority: Siblings of former students of Shirley Boys’ High School
Fourth Priority: Sons of former students of Shirley Boys’ High School
Fifth Priority: Sons of Board members or Board employees of Shirley Boys’ High School
Sixth Priority: Any other applicants will be selected by ballot
Enrolment Dates for Year 9 2027
- Community Open Afternoon – 19 May, 4:00pm-6:00pm
- Enrolments Open – 19 May
- CV Gallagher Academic Scholarship Exam – 30 June, 9.00am-11.00am
- Enrolments Close – 24 July
- Ballot (if required) – 29 July
- Deadline for acceptance of places – 10 August
- Year 8 Interviews – Tuesday 8, Thursday 10, Monday 14 September (students only need to attend one of the interview dates. Information on booking interviews will be emailed out)
- Intake Testing – Friday 11 or Monday 15 September (students only need to attend one afternoon of testing)
