On Saturday 16th March, 79 of our students performed at the annual Polyfest event held at North Hagley Park. This is an important event in our Pasifika calendar as it showcases our rich Pasifika cultures and how it is carried through our young people.
Our boys worked really hard in the 5 weeks we had to prepare. Boys spend roughly 60-70 hours practising to put out a performance that our families would be proud of. These practices happened during lunch times, early mornings, and on Saturday’s. Our Y13s led the group this year as they sacrificed their holidays to come up with the routine. The boys performed really well and it was awesome to hear from our Shirley aiga and wider community saying how ‘sharp and loud’ we were.
This journey couldn’t of been possible without our staff and parents in the background supporting them. Thank you to our old boys that came back to tutor Otele Iamanu and Cooper Gibb-Faumuina.
